Maybe you got a new camera last year and are still trying to figure it all out. Or maybe you are just new to photography and want to learn some of the basics in photography. Whichever category you fall in, why not come join us on January 9, 2016 from 9:30am-12pm at the JN Long Cultural Art Center in Cleburne as we talk basic photography and what all those symbols mean on your camera. Whether new to photography or more experienced, you’ll pick up a thing or two that will help you further your photography skills. As the saying goes, if you stop learning, you stop growing.

Many thanks to Laverne Pyle, Norma Stephens, Bob Force, Julie Robinson, and Henry Bogusch for manning our booth. Of course our booth wouldn’t have come together without the support of Micki Nellis, Alden Nellis, Jim McHale and the rest of the CFCA organization. We showcased photos from club members, some old cameras, handed out brochures, and save the date cards for our 2016 contest. It was great to visit with fellow club members and swap ideas for future programs. Bob Force shared a desire to lead a program on still life photography shooting a wine bottle, grapes, and cheese. It was determined that the program should be named Sip & Shoot! Should be a creative class… Ha Ha!
We had another great monthly competition in October. With 9 digital submissions and 18 prints, Judge Kerry Owen had a lot to consider. Best of Show honors went to Mike Mahaffey with the winning Black and White submission “Erector Set.” 2nd place in the black and white division went to ‘”I’ll Fly Away” by Julie Robinson, who followed up with a win in the Digital competition with “Golden Coneflower.” 2nd place in the Digital division was awarded to Cynthia Davison’s sentimental “Snuggle Time.” Color Class A had Mike Mahaffey in the top spot with “Sunseeker” followed by Julie Robinson with “Aspen Leaf.” In Color Class B one ribbon was presented to first place winner Marian Kalka for her elegant “White Orchids.” For the Artistic competition, first place honors went to Denise Ollman for “Memories of Summers Gone By.”
